Just Add Ink #246 - Just add giving!

Merry Christmas to you all!!!

I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday filled with family, friends, food and laughter :)

Today we have the last challenge of the year for Just Add Ink and we are asking you to Just Add Giving - since it's that time of year.

I created this easy box with the tutorial you can find on Youtube here.
The only difference is I used a 12 x 12" piece of DSP instead of a 6x6"
Oh and I also added a piece of card stock inside the bottom to give it some extra strength.

I embossed the snowflake image from Snow Swirled on velum and created a big banner with it. I then popped a few smaller banners on top of it.

The silver flower was made with tissue paper :)

The box is filled with yummy rum balls and makes a sweet treat to give to my neighbours.  I've used this recipe for the rum balls but by the request of my husband I added a little extra rum (no point in making rum balls if you can't taste the rum!!)

You've got until January 7th to show us your just add giving project and I'd really love to see your creation so please link up here.

To all my readers - Thank you for all the lovely comments you've left over the year and I look forward to continuing my blogging journey (with you) in 2015.

Happy New Year and all the best to you and your families for the year to come.

Just Add Ink #233 - Sketch Challenge

Yippee it's sketch challenge time at Just Add Ink this week!!

I've picked a flower fusion stamp set from Papertrey Ink to use on this sweet little birthday card.
While this card looks fairly simple I found it took me quite a while to line up the circle punches and the flower stamps!

The pink looks pretty red in these photos but in real life it's pink!

Here is the sketch -

The Design Team have created some beautiful cards this week but I can't wait to see your take on this sketch so don't forget to link up!!

I'll be taking a little break from my Just Add Ink design commitments but I'll be back before you know it!!!

Christmas card stash started!!!!

OHHH happy day!

My BFF and I had a full day cyber crafting on Friday (it's been way to long!) and it was so much fun.
Although we did more talking than crafting we still managed to squeeze in time to play along with a challenge.

There was a lovely and clean sketch (#154) over at Freshly Made Sketches so we decided to use that for our kicking off point.

I haven't made any Christmas cards yet so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to make a start.

Here is the sketch -

I hope you get some time to play in your craft room this weekend - just forget about those pesky chores and family errands!!!

Happy Sunday!

Just Add Ink #231 - Colour Combo challenge

It’s that time again…… Just Add Ink’s challenge day!!!!!!!

This week we've got a cool colour combo to get your mojo going.  The colours are Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Basic Black.

I wasn't sure how these colours would work together but once I started playing with them I really enjoyed using them.

For this card I used the most amount of stamps all on one card than I have in a long time!  8 different ones in total!

Head on over to the blog and see what the other design team members have come up with!
Then don’t forget to link up your creation too.

Happy Friday

Just Add Ink #229 - Inspiration picture

Well the inspiration photo challenge this week at Just Add Ink was a hard one for me!

I tried to make something that melded the colours just like the swirly treats in the inspiration picture but that didn't turn out very well.

So I decided to take more inspiration from the stacked colours and came up with this rainbow of butterflies.

Here is the inspiration image

You really need to head over to the blog and see the other design team members amazing creations!  They have totally out done themselves this week.

Hopefully you'll be inspired to make something equally fun and pretty.

Happy Friday

Just Add Ink #227 - Just Add Chipboard

Just Add Ink great challenge this week...... Just Add Chipboard.

Now I bet you've all got some chipboard pieces stashed away in your craft pile so this is a perfect challenge to get it out and use it.

When I started looking I found quite a few different pieces to use but I couldn't go past these pretty flowers.

I've sponged the edges of the chipboard to give them a little bit of colour!

Please pop over to the blog and check out the massive variety of ways the Design Team have chosen to use chipboard.

I hope you have time to play along with our challenge this week!

Happy Friday

I hope you all find some time to play along with our challenge this week, not only is crafting fun but it's therapeutic!

I've used my chevron punch down the side and my star punches to create this little cluster of stars.

I had a tiny little bit of this grey twine left over and it was just the perfect amount for this card :)

The design team have created so many different and inspiring designs with this colour combo that you really must pop over and check them out.

Just Add Ink #223 - Sketch

Just Add Ink have a new challenge this week and it's a fab sketch!

Have you been eyeing off all the yummy new things in the new Stampin' UP! catalouge????
One of my first purachases was the cotton ribbon I've used on this card.  It's so easy to work with and has a beautiful feel and so many pretty colours too.

The 'baby' die cut I've used is from Papertrey Ink - isn't it just adorable!

You might note that I didn't get the sketch exactly as it should but as one of my fellow Design Team members said - it's using my creative licence!

Here is the sketch -

I'd love to see how you use your creative licence with this sketch so please join us and link up here.

Happy Friday!!

Just Add Ink #221 - Just Add Shakers!

Welcome to my little part of blog land!

Today is Just Add Ink challenge day and the challenge is to just add SHAKERS.

What is a shaker card?
I'd never made one before....... so just in case you didn't know a shaker card is a card with a see through window that is filled with fun sparkly items! There is enough room in the window for the items to move around when shaken.

I decided to use vellum as my window and I filled it with little colourful circles and some glass glitter!

I think the vellum mutes the colours nicely so they aren't too bright and I really like this idea to add some fun to a birthday card!

You should see the fantastic creations by the Design Team this week - I will definitely be pinning some of them for future CASing!   I really like the 'shaker' and think I'll be using it again soon.

I'd love to see your take on a shaker card so come join us here.

Also a big WELCOME to Deb who is joining our Design Team for a little while!!!!

Just Add Ink 219 - Inspiration photo

Happy Friday!
Can you believe we are nearly at the end of June - this year is flying by.

The challenge at Just Add Ink is an inspiration photo.  I just adore these colours together which I've taken as yellow, grey and navy (but I think you could also use black instead of navy too).

I wanted to create a whimsical card to match the sentiment and I think I've done that with the thin little banners.

I love every card that the design team have created this week so make sure you pop over to the blog to check them out!!!

Here the inspiration picture

I hope you have fun with this challenge and don't forget to link up here!

Just Add Ink - Cupcakes/Cake/Dessert!!

It's that time of the week again - Just Add Ink challenge time!

This week the challenge is a yummy one...... just add Cupcakes/Cake/Dessert!!

This week I chose to work with just a few colours, Crumb cake, Daffodil delight and Whisper white.

I've had this cupcake embossing folder for years now and I'd forgotten I even had it but when I did come across it I thought it was perfect for this challenge.

I coloured up my Just Rite cupcake with copics and then smothered the top with crystal effects and a sprinkle of glitter.

The design team have created some mouth watering creations so don't forget to pop over and check the out.

I'd love to see what you can come up with for this challenge so don't forget to enter :)

Just add a colour combo - challenge #215

It's new challenge day at Just Add Ink and the colour combo picked by Mae certainly challenged me!

I automatically wanted to make a Christmas card with the colours - Cherry Cobbler, Baked Brown Sugar and Garden Green but I resisted and decided on something different.
I've also used Very Vanilla as a neutral to soften the colours a little bit as I found them all to be very strong.

I also added some gold shimmer mist to the flowers which you might be able to see in the picture below.

The challenge this week is actually running for 2 weeks so you've got plenty of time to make your creation and link it up!

Here's the colour combo

If you're heading to the Stampin' UP! convention next week I hope you have a fab time and I'll be thinking of you all dancing the night away!

Just Add Ink #213 Inspiration picture

This week's inspiration challenge at Just Add Ink is right up my alley...... pink, chevrons and flowers!

The inspiration pictures gave me so many ideas that I didn't know where to start.
I remembered seeing an interesting technique using masking fluid over on this blog where Amber gives a great tutorial.
I decided to give it a try!  I firstly had to buy the fluid at a local craft store and then I did quite a few test runs to make sure I was happy with the final product.

Here's what I eventually came up with

I've also borrowed another technique for the paper feathers from fellow Design Team member Susan.
You can see her feathers here.

The pink in these pictures looks really dark but in real life it's' much softer!

Here is the inspiration picture -

The design team have out done themselves this week so hop over and check out their creations.

I hope to see your inspired designs this week so link up here!

It's Good Friday which means 4 days of fantastic family time!

I hope you get a bit of time to squeeze in some crafting so you can play along with the fantastic sketch Just Add Ink has this week.

This is a fairly simple card so I added a layer of sparkles to help give it a little pop.

I made this card for my wonderful husband who has been looking after me while I haven't been well recently.

Here is the sketch

After you've checked out the Design Team's creations you can link up yours here.

Just Add Ink 207 - Sketch

We've got a fun sketch at Just Add Ink designed by Kim for your inspiration!

I always love a good sketch because it can really give you some structure if you're not feeling the creative mojo and it can also provide a challenge if you want to push the boundaries a little.

Recently I had a 16th birthday party to attend for a family friend and I wanted her card to be a little bit trendy.

I hope I achieved that here using the Kaleidoscope dsp!

I think the black really makes the doily stand out but also modernize's it too!

Of course I had to add some bling so I've used shimmer mist on the 16 and a little sliver of glitter paper as a banner.

I really can't wait to see how you interpret this sketch so pop on over and add your entry.
Here is the sketch

Also the design team have come up with some fabo cards to get your ideas flowing.

Yesterday was international day of happiness so I hope you all had a happy day :)

Just Add Ink 205 - Just add a sunburst!

WOOHOO it's Friday!

Here in Australia we've just moved in to Autumn..... I love all the seasons but I really love summer the best.
So the challenge at Just Add Ink this week really appeals to the my inner summer lover!
The challenge is to add a sunburst to your creation.

I choose to not interpret it literally as a sun with sunrays but it's fairly close to that.

This card is for an upcoming engagement party and I just know the bride to be will appreciate all the gold glittery-ness (is that even a word)!

I really can't wait to see how you interpret a sunburst on your creation.
Don't forget to check out the Design Team's creations - there are some great scrapbook layouts this week!

Have a great weekend
