Lollipop Ladies - Ribbon Candy!

I had so many ideas when I saw this delicious ribbon candy challenge that the Lollipop Ladies have challenged us with this fortnight.

So many colours for inspiration and so many ways to use ribbon - I bet you could all come up with a different way to use it!!

I decided to lay strips of ribbon down for my background and then ran the sewing machine over them to hold them place. I love all the bright colours and thought they work perfectly for a cheery kids card.

I've used:
Paper
-Old Olive and Whisper White

Ink -
Copics
Stamp Set - Pun Fun
Other: Real Red, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Bashful Blue and Old Olive ribbon.

Don't forget to check out the other Candy Stripes creations and leave them some comment love.

Easter Bags

Hi Everyone.... are you all preparing for the big Easter chocolate feast tomorrow?????

I know I ALWAYS eat waaaaaaaaaaay to much on Easter Sunday and then need a little nanna nap in the afternoon.

So speaking of eating chocolate, here are some little bags that I made up for my work colleges. I was inspired by this post my BFF and I got the template here.

They were the perfect size to pop in a few little crunchie Eater eggs - nom nom nom

I've used a bunch of different papers that I have WAY to much of but I thought they would be perfect for these bright and cheery bags!!

I've got a busy day ahead as I haven't even brought any Easter eggs for my family (I know I'm really slack) so I have to brave the shops, buy eggs and do the grocery shopping. Then we've got a early Easter lunch at our house!

So I'd better get on with it!!!!!

Lollipop Ladies Challenge 18 - Easter

Another fantastic challenge has been thrown our way by the Lollipop Ladies - Easter!

This inspiration picture could be interpreted so many ways but I chose to use the wrappers as my main inspiration. Obviously I've used a Chocolate Chip base to signify the yummy delicious chocolates on the inside of the wrappers. I've then used the colours in this picture as my next inspiration.

The extra challenge this week was to add Glitter/Sparkle so I took inspiration from the shiny wrappers themselves. I'm not sure if you can see from my pictures but the background paper has pink sections that are just like the wrappers on Easter eggs!!! I then also added glitter to the larger butterfly and glimmer mist on the little blue butterfly - kinda hard to see but looks good IRL.

I've used:
Paper
-Chocolate Chip
, Melon Mambo, Very Vanilla, Marina Mist and Kasier Kraft DSP
Ink -
Nil
Stamp Set - No stamp sets here!
Other: Nestabilities, embosslit Beautiful wings, blue diamante and Satan Ribbon

There will be plenty of inspiration over the next fortnight for this challenge so you don't have any excuse not to enter!!! Head over the the Lollipop Ladies blog and check out what the other Candy Stripes have designed.

I've found SEAM BINDING!

My goodness it's taken me forever but I've finally found seam binding!

I've seen other people using it for ages now and I've been meaning to try it out but I wasn't sure if it would be my thing.

THEN my BFF sent me some.... and I think I'm in love...... it's so amazing to work with!!!

The day I got it I went into the craft room and this is what I created...........

The whole card was inspired by the beautiful soft pink seam binding

ohhhhhh I'm off to day dream about seam binding...................................................

ps if you want any details about the card just drop me a line :)

Lillies for Kate - giveaway

There's a blog I've been following for a little while now called Lillies for Kate and it's by this lovely lady named Kate (funny that!!).

She is an wonderful lady who lives in my town of Brisbane and shares my interest in vintage goods and doing up furniture. Although my interest is really starting in doing up furniture where Kate is well seasoned at it.

Check out her latest project....

This is a set of draws that belonged to her Grandfather after she worked her magic on them... aren't they just stunning!!!!!!!

And here is the before shot

ANYWAY the reason why I'm letting you all know about her blog is so you can go over become a follower and go in the draw to win her 100 Follower blog candy!!!!!!!

So get on over there and check out Kate's blog!!!

Sore head....

Today I have a bit of a sore head. It was a friends birthday and we went on a cruse of the Brisbane river last night.... and of course we had a few drinks to celebrate.

So it's short and sweet today - here is the card I whipped up for her (her favorite colour is red)

Have a lovely Sunday afternoon where ever you are in the world :)

Trip down memory lane

When I stared this blog in 2008 I was a sewer!! Well I still am but don't have nearly enough time for it any more with my paper craft obsession hobby taking over :)

I was reading through my old posts recently and found this one, it's about the very first market that my BFF and I went to. She sold her cards and I sold my cushions.

It was a very fun and exciting experience that I really think helped us forge our friendship. We'd only just met a few weeks before when I practically forced her to sell her beautiful cards with me!!We did a few markets together, some successful some not but we had so much fun at each one!

Then she started so slowly unravel the wonders of paper craft and Stampin' UP! to me............. at I was really impressed by what she created but I didn't think it was for me. But her persistence paid off. I think the thing that totally hooked me was when she showed me heat embossing, I was amazed at what was happening right before my eyes!!!!

From then on I've been a devoted paper crafter and I think I always will be.

So thanks P for so many things, but most of all thanks for being my best friend - MWAH XOX

Cute new stamp set

Recently I got this cute stamp set sent over to me from the States. It's a Stampin' UP! set from 2005 and it's called Garden Collage, I think it is soooooo darn cute!!! I'm a huge butterfly and bird fan so this set was just calling out my name.

Have you brought any new sets lately that you're just smitten with??
I'd love to know what they are.

Happy Sunday

1 Wedding = 2 cards!!

One of my lovely friends at work is a bridesmaid at a wedding today, she'll be wearing a beautiful blue/teal dress and I just can't wait to see photos - she will look stunning!

She asked me to make her 2 wedding cards for the occasion, one will be from her and one will be from her mother.

Because her bridesmaid dress will be blue/teal she asked me to incorporate that colour in the card. She had also seen my Kiki stamps and thought it would be good if I could illustrate the couple on the card - what a clever girlie!!

So that's just what I did!!! I wasn't sure if the card look 'weddingish' (is that a word?) enough but she seemed really happy when I showed her.

I also created one that had more of a traditional feel for her mum. I've used shimmer paint on the cake - my first time using it and I really love it!! I think I'll have to order the other colours too.

I hope that the couple have a beautiful day and my work friend thoroughly enjoys herself!!!
